Learning & Growth Opportunities

Recognising that our most critical asset is our human capital, IDA believes in life-long employability and as such, we are committed to providing abundant learning and development opportunities to help our employees to continuously update and upgrade their skills and knowledge.

Learning and Development

In a dynamic environment like IDA, it is essential for our employees to stay relevant so as to effectively champion and develop Singapore's infocomm infrastructure and technology standards. Hence, we have a series of Learning and Development (L&D) programmes lined up for our employees to help develop their competency levels and further enhance their work performance. An online learning resource bank is also available to provide a complete repository of useful learning resources in terms of instructor-led courses, e-learning courses, activities, exercises, books and audio-video aids to support our employees' development needs.

In addition, we provide financial assistance to employees who wish to upgrade themselves by undertaking courses leading to formal qualifications like diploma and degree. Leave benefits such as examination and sabbatical leave are also available for employees who want to enrich themselves by taking development-type programmes. Employees are also encouraged to join professional bodies that are relevant to their work areas to enable them to keep abreast of industry trends and news.

By equipping our people with the necessary knowledge, skills and attributes, IDA is able to enhance both individual and organisational effectiveness and performance and thus, become an active learning and high performing organisation.

Career Growth

In a fast-paced environment like IDA, our employees are constantly challenged to continually update their current skills and develop new skills to meet both current and future career opportunities. Hence, a people development framework, which is made up of various programmes and schemes, is available to help our employees to grow and develop their career. Some of the programmes and schemes include job rotation, external industry attachment, management and leadership development as well as coaching and mentoring.

On top of having a progressive people management and development framework, IDA also strongly believes that leadership continuity is the key in ensuring organisational success. A talent management and development system is also in place to identify and develop our talents as well as ensure proper succession management.

Every employee is given equal and fair access to career advancement opportunities within IDA. Transparency is ensured via open advertisement of job openings in our intranet. Employees who believe that they have the necessary requirements and the nature of the job is in line with their career interests can apply for the job opening. They are also able to apply for a job of a higher grade than their current post. In line with IDA's philosophy of promoting from within, employees can be considered for promotion in our half-yearly promotion exercises if they have demonstrated their capabilities to take on a bigger role and are able to prove their consistent strong performance.
