DSSS worked on Sun's Secured Global Desktop (SSGD) software with its existing two-factor authentication solution to create a secure yet convenient application gateway appliance, the Virtual Application (VAP) Gateway, for the security-conscious enterprises and organizations. The VAP Gateway is a winning combination of two powerful security solutions: the DSSS Authentication Security Module (ASM) which provides maximum flexibility in end-to-end security and two-factor authentication, and Sun Microsystems' Secure Global Desktop (SSGD) which offers unrivalled mobility in virtualised secure desktop environments.
The DSSS ASM is primarily a black-box AAA security appliance that sits behind the company's firewall/router VPN. The ASM supports standard RADIUS and LDAP authentication protocols to seamlessly enable two-factor logins and enhanced security for common enterprise applications such as VPNs, UNIAX, SSH, etc. The flexible token management system ensures cost benefits, and offers enterprises multi-token support, including OTP sent over SMS, Java midlet software OTP tokens, OATH tokens, Browser OTP tokens and even hardware OTP tokens.
The SSGD is a leading thin-client desktop solution that allows users to remotely access their applications from a browser effortlessly. With the SSGD, applications and data no longer need to reside on private desktops or laptops. Applications launched through SSGD execute on dedicated systems inside the data centre, and only the display of these applications is sent to the client device, thus ensuring that critical data never leaves the corporate network. Another advantage is that applications become easier to maintain because they can be upgraded in one location and yet become instantly available to the entire user base.
Through iLIUP, DSSS has leveraged the partnership to penetrate both established and growth markets, where Sun has presence, such as Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan and Middle East. And most recently, they were introduced to our Sunray/SSGD team in Sun Headquarter in United States to discuss on partnership in penetrating the United States with their VAP product.
Besides market penetration, extensive technology transfer has also taken place. iLIUP is seen as a catalyst and a foundation for DSSS to get things done in a much shorter time. For some cases, DSSS were able to meet with the specialists to discuss the issues on a face-to-face basis. And precisely with this technology knowledge transfer, DSSS is able to integrate SSGD and their 2-FA Authentication solution. To recognise DSSS' commitment in the iLIUP Partnership and their development of the VAP leveraging and promoting SSGD technologies, DSSS was awarded an honorary award from Sun Microsystems as its Asia South Partner of the Year 2008 (Software).
