Providing better patient services, increasing productivity and operational efficiency while reducing the total cost of ownership are the top priority of every hospital’s management. Singapore Computer Systems Limited (SCS), a leading information and communications technology service provider in Asia, has developed healthcare solutions to intelligently turn raw data into vital information.
SCS’ healthcare solutions are built in consultation with healthcare practitioners. SCS solutions are patient-centric, highly scalable and reliable. They are designed with the automation of operations and integration of hospital or clinical workflows in mind. These web-based solutions are robust and secured, providing healthcare practitioners with timely information whenever and wherever they want it.
SCS’ in-house built Healthcare solutions include its integrated Hospital Information System (iHIS), Enterprise Integrated Pharmacy System (iPharm) and Electronic Medical Records System.
SCS’ partnership with Oracle Corporation (Oracle) in IDA's Overseas Development Programme (ODP) was an opportunity for SCS to expand overseas with the support of a multinational player. Oracle has introduced new healthcare technologies such as Healthcare Transaction Base and grid computing technologies to expand our healthcare solution offerings.
"Oracle has excellent marketing infrastructure and branding in China, and has the market reach within China," said Mr Tan Tong Hai, President and Chief Executive Officer of SCS. "We can improve our go-to-market capabilities by leveraging Oracle’s reach and depth within China. This helps us reduce our costs and enables us to provide more comprehensive products and services to our customers. Oracle has also assisted SCS in driving Open Standards such as HL7 version 3, which is gaining traction overseas.”
SCS’ recent healthcare win in China was a contract by Parkway Group Healthcare to implement SCS’ web-based, dual-language integrated Hospital Information System (iHIS) for the Shanghai Gleneagles Medical and Surgical Centre (Gleneagles Shanghai). SCS implemented a full range of solutions for Inpatient and Outpatient Management, Electronic Medical Records Management, Patient Relationship Management, and integration with third-party systems such as laboratory information, radiology information, picture archiving and communications and finance systems.
“SCS and Oracle have contacts in the healthcare industry in China, and the complementary relationship built with these contacts contributed to the win of the Gleneagles Shanghai contract. SCS and Oracle aim to strengthen our partnership in Singapore and the region,” Mr Tan added.
