Up and coming technology companies often face an uphill battle to build market profile and develop their brand. Elixir Technology in Singapore, a provider of integrated business intelligence tools, recognized this challenge and chose a partnership approach. Partnering with Sun, Elixir accessed a global network of customer and partners to expand its business locally and overseas.
Founded by researchers from the R&D laboratories of Singapore's Information Technology Institute, Elixir over time developed a solid base in the local market for its solutions. However the company knew it would have to extend its reach to achieve substantial growth, requiring expansion of its existing partner network as well as greater brand awareness.
Under the Infocomm Local Industry Upgrading Program, run by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, Elixir joined the SunSM Partner Advantage Program to achieve these goals, while also synergizing its products with Sun technology.
Elixir has realized numerous benefits from joining Sun's Partner program. By marketing to Sun's extensive partner network, the company has formed collaborations to win new business. Elixir has built awareness with other marketing initiatives, including participating in Sun Tech days around the world, and increasing exposure in new markets. The company also participated in a business intelligence seminar in Zambia as a Sun partner and received local media coverage.
Sun's go to market programs provide Elixir with information on new solutions while Sun's thought leadership in areas like Javaâ„¢ technology and web services advance Elixir's knowledge and practices. Additionally, Elixir has access to educational materials and has participated in product training on MySQLâ„¢ databases and the Solaris 10â„¢ Operating System. The company makes use of technical support from Sun when developing its architecture for Solaris 10 Operating System and access to Sun technology has helped Elixir provide the best solutions for its customers.
Building on its partnership with Sun, Elixir is supplying its Elixir Report software to AirData, a European provider of computerized flight planning and weather briefing services to airlines and flight handling companies. AirData required a reporting engine that could read XML data, leverage open standards for the IT team to optimize performance and scalability, and provide a price-performance advantage. With access to Sun intelligence, Elixir developed Elixir Report based on open standards. For AirData this means native access to XML data and built-in capabilities to handle complex XML structures, providing a high performance, integrated reporting solution.
Lau Shih-Hor , CEO of Elixir Technology, comments: "Elixir has enjoyed greater awareness and brand perception, faster time to market and improved productivity as a result of its participation in the Sun Partner Advantage Program."
