National Grid

The National Grid will facilitate the seamless use of an integrated cyber infrastructure in a secure, effective and efficient manner with the longer term goal of transforming the Singapore economy using infocomm services over the grid.

Plans for the National Grid are part of the overall Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015) ICT Master Plan. Under the masterplan, IDA intends to develop an infocomm resource marketplace (IRM) in Singapore, where a major component involves industry participants provisioning compute and storage using grid as an underlying architecture on a utility pricing model. The flexibility that the IRM offers would enable new business delivery models and encourage innovation of infocomm services.

Towards this end, IDA launched a Call-For-Collaboration (CFC) for Grid Services Provisioning on 23 November 2007 to invite interested parties to submit proposals for the provisioning of software, compute and storage utility in Singapore.
