Call-for-Collaboration - Smart Airport & Passenger Travel

7 August 2003

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), with the support of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF), invites industry partners to develop and pilot innovative wireless applications for the Singapore Changi Airport as well as for travellers on the move.

What's New

  1. Eight consortia have been shortlisted for further evaluation by the CFC Evaluation Committee. The lead company of each shortlisted consortia has been informed by email.

  2. A Networking Session was held on 17 April 2003. See below for the registration list and slides presented. Please note that the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has provided a timeline in their slides for technology vendors interested in collaborating with them.

  3. Changes have been made to Section 5.2 ("Prerequisites for Participant(s)") of the Public Document as follow:

    1. The consortium must consist of at least one technology provider registered in Singapore with the Registry of Companies & Businesses;
    2. The project must be implemented in Singapore; and
    3. The project must include all necessary partners to implement a complete solution. [Clarification: A complete solution means that the solution must be end-to-end to the extent that there would be pilots or trials conducted with 'live' users in the course of the proposed project. Hence, each consortium should involve at least a user organisation.]

Objectives

This CFC seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Encourage companies to develop and pilot innovative wireless applications that enhance the competitiveness of Changi Airport
  2. Encourage the travel and infocomm industries to jointly explore business opportunities in mobile travel solutions
  3. Facilitate the exchange of ideas and possibilities between user companies, public agencies and technology providers.

User companies could test the value of the applications at a subsidised cost before adoption.
