The objectives of the Infocomm Clubs Programme are to:

  • Expand students' creative and entrepreneurial spirit through application of infocomm in school and society.

  • Run in partnership with industry and other institutions, the Infocomm Club activities include training, project work, mentorship, competitions and collaboration with other schools, locally and internationally.  Schools under the Infocomm Clubs Programme may also collaborate to share facilities, extend training, provide ambassadors and undertake joint activities.

  • The Infocomm Club in each school will also organise school-wide enrichment programmes such as seminars or workshops to raise infocomm awareness and appreciation for all students.

  • The Infocomm Club in each school will act as an infocomm resource centre for the school.  Platforms will also be provided for schools and various other parties to come together to collaborate, and create a central pool of resources for teachers and students to tap on.

  • Schools with an Infocomm Club can sign up for Infocomm Connect.  Infocomm Connect is a series of dialogue sessions to impress upon students the excitement and prospects of an infocomm career.  The session will involve sharing and personal success stories by industry leaders, some of whom may be former students of the school. • Infocomm Club Study Trip To Silicon Valley 2007

To inspire interest in the dynamic Infocomm industry, the Infocomm Club organised a study trip to Silicon Valley, US for a group of 39 students from 18 schools in June 2007.

The week-long stint in the US gave the students an opportunity to visit top Infocomm companies, such as Adobe, Cisco, Google and Oracle, as well as prestigious universities such as Stanford University, University of California, Berkerley, UCLA and NUS Overseas College. The students were treated to an overview of the latest technology, the work culture and other various aspects of the Infocomm industry in the US.

Besides visiting infocomm companies, the students also enjoyed rest and relax activities. They also visited Intel Museum and the Computer History Museum. The visit to these museums showed the students the evolution of technology just over the last few decades. According to Moore's Law - the number of the circuits in an integrated transistor will double every two years! The students were also introduced to the Wall-of-Fame in the industry and were inspired by these personalities' passion and perseverance.

Lim Jiunn Haur, 18, from Victoria Junior College, shares his experience, “This trip has given me greater insights into the ICT industry and sneak previews of the future of infocomm. Besides learning about the vast opportunities available in the industry, the visits to the tertiary institutions, such as NUS Overseas College and Stanford University, have helped me better plan what I want for myself.”
