The objectives of The People Sector Programme is to "increase awareness and promote greater adoption of infocomm" and "to increase sophistication and savviness of the adult population", with respect to the usage of infocomm. We partner strategic People Sector Organizations (PSOs) who have large community reach to have multiplier effect for the programme's thrusts.
The People Sector Programme consists of three main thrusts:
- People Sector Infocomm Broad Outreach
This is a series of broad outreach public education events, some led by IDA and others in partnership with channel or technology partners. These events will showcase many of the latest infocomm services of IDA's PSO partners and also other sophisticated infocomm services that would enrich the lives of the people.
- People Sector Infocomm Adoption
This is to promote infocomm adoption in PSOs by providing enablers for ease of adoption. Enablers include infocomm adoption best practice frameworks for the sector, Web 2.0 "ready-to-use" Content Management Systems (CMS) and infocomm adoption grants scheme. We also supports events for match-making technology partners with PSOs in order to create a sustaining relationship between the infocomm industry and the sector.
- People Sector Competency Development
This involves training the people (management, employees and volunteers) from PSOs in using the latest infocomm tools when engaging their communities. The Social Media Immersion Programme and the People Sector – Infocomm Industry Exchange were created as part of the thrust to raise this competency among PSOs.
The People Sector Programme has been enhanced to include some new developments in Infocomm technologies, such as:
- Inclusion of the mobile component into the programme
With the rise of Smartphones and Tablets recently, The People Sector Programme has included mobile component as one of the sophisticated infocomm channel for adoption by our PSOs.
- "Gamification" in people engagement infocomm deployment
The programme has started to include "Gamification" (Game Mechanism) as an interaction technique to enhance the user experience.
