IDA aims to turn Singapore into a high value manufacturing hub and supply chain nerve centre, powered by infocomm.
As a High Value Manufacturing Hub, Singapore will host high value-added manufacturing and related activities enabled by infocomm. Such activities will involve leveraging on infocomm to enable end-to-end connections across manufacturing supply chains (e.g. Collaborative High-Tech Manufacturing Plan), complex manufacturing activities such as design (e.g. Collaborative Design) and innovative business models (e.g. mass customisation).
The Collaborative High-Tech Manufacturing Plan was conceived by IDA to develop integrated and responsive high-tech manufacturing supply chains in Singapore, linked by ICT and providing end-to-end services from product design to customer management. It aims to build dynamic end-to-end collaborative supply chains through the use of ICT as a strategic tool.
As a Supply Chain Nerve Centre, Singapore will be the place from which companies monitor and control their global supply chains using infocomm technologies. These will be supported by a world-class logistics infrastructure and new supply chain services using advanced infocomm solutions.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a key enabling technology to automate many manual intensive logistics processes and create real-time adaptable demand and supply networks. We aim to use RFID to enhance our competitiveness as a logistics hub and supply chain nerve centre.
TradeXchange will be a neutral and secure platform that will enable exchange of information between shippers, freight forwarders, carriers and government agencies, to facilitate the flow of goods within, through and out of Singapore. This trade infrastructure will be able to provide seamless inter-connectivity among commercial and regulatory systems for Singapore's trade and logistics businesses.
Infocomm@SeaPort
A $12 million joint initiative between the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), and IDA, this programme aims to catalyse business transformation and operational excellence in the port community through the use of innovative infocomm technologies. The programme will identify and implement infocomm projects that will further entrench Singapore’s position as a leading global hub port.
TradeXchange®
TradeXchange® is a neutral and secure trade platform that facilitates the exchange of information within the trade and logistics community. Businesses can use this system as a 'one-stop platform' to enter and access trade-related information, rather than go through multiple systems. Businesses can also enjoy additional information services developed by third-party providers like banks and logistics providers.
Collaborative High Tech Manufacturing Plan (CHTMP)
The CHTMP was conceived by IDA to develop integrated and responsive high-tech manufacturing supply chains in Singapore, linked by ICT and providing end-to-end services from product design to customer management. It aims to build dynamic end-to-end collaborative supply chains through the use of ICT as a strategic tool.
RFID Initiative
In May 2004, IDA launched a three-year, S$10 million plan to develop Radio Frequency Identification or RFID technology to augment Singapore's position as a key logistics hub. The plan aims to build RFID-enabled supply chain clusters by bringing together manufacturers, logistics service providers, retailers, infrastructure providers and solutions providers across various industry sectors in Singapore. As of February 2006, industry has committed to invest more than S$30million towards RFID projects.
Digital Manufacturing - Collaborative Design
The Digital Manufacturing Programme aims to establish Singapore as a high-value manufacturing hub by enabling complex manufacturing activities. The Collaborative Design Initiative falls under this programme. This initiative will improve multi-company manufacturing product design processes by integrating members of a product value chain, addressing efficiency gaps and reducing product design lead times.
