EdVantage
EdVantage is a flagship programme by IDA with the support of the Ministry of Education (MOE). Aligned to Ministry of Education's IT Master Plans, it aims to strategically deploy infocomm to provide a learner-centric, collaborative learning environment that extends beyond the classrooms, thereby enabling a diverse and vibrant schools landscape in the use of infocomm.
The programme seeks to harness infocomm to transform the education system in Singapore. Using innovative solutions to showcase Singapore as the leader in exploiting infocomm in education, it is also expected to help create revenue opportunities and new capabilities for local infocomm enterprises in the education sector.
BackPackLIVE!
Ministry of Education (MOE), the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Microsoft Singapore announced the launch of the BackPackLIVE! Initiative on 16 July 2009. This initiative is an expansion of the previous five year IDA-Microsoft BackPack.NET initiative launched in 2003. The new collaboration will focus on inspiring, exploring and scaling ICT practices among teachers to develop students' self-directed and collaborative learning capability. BackPackLIVE! comprises four pillars: Professional Learning Communities; Developers Community, Cyber Wellness Ambassador Programme; and Recognition & Promotion.
BackPackLIVE! will give educators the opportunity to see their ICT ideas transform into reality. Under the Developers Community pillar, the industry has the opportunity to work closely with the selected schools to create innovative solutions for the pilot projects. Industry partners will be given the opportunity to test-bed their applications and products and determine the effectiveness of their solutions.
