Infocomm Technology Roadmap (ITR)

The Infocomm Technology Roadmap is one of the pillars towards the masterplan of the IDA national infocomm blueprint for the next ten years. It charts the vision, trends and developments of the technology landscape in Singapore for the next five years and aims to align Singapore's technological direction with worldwide infocomm developments. In this respect, the roadmap aims to help the industry keep abreast with future directions and trends, and to assist the industry to identify business opportunities for competitive advantage. Early adoption of emerging Infocomm technologies is essential to give Singapore an added competitive edge in business and economic opportunities.

5th Infocomm Technology Roadmap (ITR-5)

Singapore Infocomm Foresight 2015

 Speakers   Presentation Slides  Report

The fifth instalment of the Infocomm Technology Roadmap (ITR5) is IDA's inaugural technology planning that focuses on long term strategic planning (10 years) in contrast to our previous four technology planning reports that are more short-term (5 years). For IDA, this ITR5 is the technology roadmap input for crafting our next national infocomm blueprint, the Intelligent Nation 2015 or iN2015.

In ITR5, we have painted the confluence of computing and communications technologies with innovations from nano and bio-technologies to herald the arrival of the Sentient Singapore 2015 vision. In this vision, sensors and intelligence riding on the infocomm infrastructure create a world of "Things that Think". This will be the era of people-centric technologies, proactive computing, sensor technologies and Small Software. Besides bringing in new levels of ease and convenience for end-users, a new eco-system of hardware, software, systems-level players that exploit sentient smart spaces will be created. There will be tremendous opportunities for those in our infocomm industry who are prepared to rise up to the challenge.
