  • digitalCommunity@SG
digitalCommunity@SG is a project by IDA which leverages on Web 2.0 and related technologies to enable innovative services through community participation. It is a pilot effort to enable the efficient fusing of information from various sources through a central data registry and standards-based interface mechanisms. The aim of digitalCommunity@SG is to enable a rich public library of information contributed by the government, enterprises and community. digitalCommunity@SG will make use of 3D digital mirror of Singapore as a user interface for anyone to collaborate and share information easily.

  • Consumer Information on Residential Broadband Services in Singapore
As part of IDA's continuing efforts to develop the vibrancy of local broadband market, we have embarked on an exercise to provide consumers with more information on broadband services in Singapore. This exercise is intended to show consumers insights into broadband technology and provide tips on how they can get more out of their broadband connections. The update includes some pricing information and the results of a measurement campaign to provide a snapshot of broadband performance in Singapore.

  • Specification for Contactless e-Purse Application (CEPAS)
CEPAS, Specification for Contactless e-Purse Application is a significant milestone for Singapore's micro-payment landscape.  A key pillar of the national ePayment infrastructure, outlined in IDA's 10 year infocomm masterplan, iN2015, CEPAS is a result of a collaboration spearheaded by IDA working closely with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the industry to develop a cashless nation-wide e-payment platform.  Developed by IDA with the Cards & Personal Identification Technical Committee (CPTIC) under the Singapore IT Standards Committee (ITSC), Network for Electronic Transfers Singapore Pte Ltd (NETS), and EZ-Link Pte Ltd, CEPAS was gazetted by SPRING Singapore in January 2006 as SS 518.

  • Mobile 2-D Barcode
The Mobile 2-D Barcode programme seeks to promote the adoption and development of 2D barcode technology in Singapore. For that purpose, the IDA Technology Group studied two ISO-standard 2D symbologies; QR code and Datamatrix code, and conducted various tests to understand the readiness of the technology for our local market.

To demonstrate the feasibility of 2D barcode services, IDA helped develop simple application prototypes such as mobile ticketing and location-based services. IDA believes that with the growth of broadband and digital imaging solutions, 2D barcode technology will be a key component in devices such as the mobile phone to engage consumers in two-way communication.

  • Collaborative Engineering Programme (CEP)
IDA is spearheading a collaboration between industry and academia to work on a 4-year Collaborative Engineering Programme (CEP) beginning in August 2004. CEP aims to bring about distributed and integrated collaborative engineering applications to manage the value chain through engineering collaboration, in response to outsourcing trends and the challenge of fragmented value chains.

The programme strategy is to develop collaborative engineering tools to address key activities within the collaborative engineering value chain. Realistic cases and problems will be leveraged to guide the development efforts. CEP takes advantage of progress in ICT and advances in the areas of Lean Thinking, OM Constraint and Flow Management, as well as 3D Design and Analysis.

This programme aims to help local manufacturing and construction industries become more responsive to market changes, shorten their time-to-market, and achieve significant cost savings and productivity gains.

  • Asia IC Card Forum (AICF)
The Asia IC Card Forum (AICF) is an organisation founded by Korea, China, Japan and Singapore with the aim of promoting IC-based common platforms across member countries, using ISO standardisation for IC technologies and applications. Thailand has recently joined AICF as a new member.

As a start, the Forum has set its sights on ePassport cross border trials as well as chip-based platform for transit and payment services, under the motto of "One Card One Asia".

  • FWSI/OASIS
The Framework for Web Services Implementation (FWSI) Technical Committee was formed under the Organisation for the Advancement of Structure Information Standards (OASIS), to facilitate the implementation of robust Web Services. It is spearheaded by SIMTech, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, and the Infocomm Technical Standards Committee.

The purpose of FWSI TC is to facilitate implementation of robust Web Services by defining a practical and extensible methodology consisting of implementation processes and common functional elements that practitioners can adopt to create high quality Web Services systems without re-inventing them for each implementation. This will help to tackle many implementation issues which contribute to the slow adoption of Web Services.
