Full-Service Residential Gateway (RG)

Full-Service Residential Gateway Reference Design Project

The Full-Service Residential Gateway (RG) is a device that provides connectivity and services to a residential home in a scenario where services can be delivered to a Digital Home remotely. A reference design for such a RG has been conceived by IDA and the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), a research institute under A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology & Research), was appointed and funded by IDA to develop the reference design based on the Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGI) specifications. The Residential Gateway Task Force (RGTF), which is under the Broadband Homes Working Group (BHWG) worked closely with I2R to provide the requirements and ensure the quality of the resulting reference design. The reference design is a blueprint, consisting of hardware and software design specifications. Though not meant to be a commercial product, companies can customise this reference design, and use it as the basis for manufacturing RGs that meet market needs.
