Singapore Public Sector to Call More Than S$1 Billion Worth of Infocomm Tenders in FY08
The Singapore Government will call S$1.14 billion worth of new infocomm tenders in Financial Year (FY) 2008. This will further increase infocomm adoption in the public sector to better meet the growing expectations of businesses and citizens in an ever-changing infocomm landscape.
 
Next Generation Technologies For Next Generation Learning
Imagine immersive learning environments that can mimic different kinds of scenarios in the classroom. Without having to visit the Singapore Zoo, Science students can, for example, immerse themselves in a 4-Dimensional (4D) environment and observe a lion’s behaviour, record it and share the information with fellow students. Such highly immersive and interactive solutions will soon be a reality for Singapore’s pioneer batch of FutureSchools, when fully implemented by 2012.
 
New S$70m Masterplan To Boost Singapore's Infocomm Security Competency And Resilience
The Government today launched a new S$70 million Infocomm Security Masterplan that will see the public, private and people sectors work even more closely together towards combating emerging cyber threats over the next five years. The Infocomm Security Masterplan 2 (MP2) will further hone Singapore's public, private and people sectors' competencies and resilience against cyber threats.

Singapore is establishing itself as the region's hub for media businesses and the financing, making and trading of media content and services. Riding on the global trend of media convergence, it has leveraged its excellent infrastructure and pool of IT talents to emerge as a centre for the creation, management and distribution of interactive digital media (IDM).
 
Singapore To Enjoy Full Mobile Number Portability From 13 June
Come 13 June, Singapore's mobile subscribers will enjoy Full Mobile Number Portability, and with this, greater benefits in terms of flexibility and choice of subscription plans as competition among mobile operators is expected to intensify. Currently, Singapore's mobile subscription stands at more than 5.8 million.

Singapore Tops Accenture 2007 Ranking of Government Customer Service
The Singapore government is ranked number one in an Accenture 2007 study on "Leadership in Customer Service". Accenture noted that Singapore edged in engaging its citizens and developing service models that are citizen-centric. Singapore is also substantially ahead of the other 22 countries Accenture ranked including USA and Denmark, in terms of proactive communication and education to its citizens.
 
IDA is One of the Best, says New ITU Chief
Singapore's Infocomm Development Authority offers 'one of the best regulatory models in the world' for countries wanting to play catch-up in embracing new convergence technologies, according to Hamadoun Toure, the new secretary-general of the International Telecommunications Union who took office this week.
