Posted date: 1 December 2008

Singapore's eG Innovations (www.eginnovations.com), a global provider of business service monitoring and triage solutions for both virtual and physical IT infrastructures, has won Gold in the category of Application and Infrastructure Management at VMworld 2008 (http://www.vmworld2008.com/). The company's eG VM Monitor was selected over products from 30 other vendors in the same category.

The eG VM Monitor (www.eginnovations.com/web/vmware.htm) is part of the eG Enterprise Suite which supports virtualisation platforms from VMware, Sun Microsystems (Solaris Containers and Logical Domains), and CitrixXen Server, and has been deployed by enterprises worldwide for monitoring mission-critical IT infrastructures. "It's a distinct honour to be recognised as best-in-class in such a fast growing and competitive marketplace," said Mr Srinivas Ramanathan, Chief Executive Officer of eG Innovations.

eG VM Monitor provides monitoring capabilities to handle the latest virtualisation environments. For example, it has an integrated dashboard for virtual and physical infrastructure monitoring and tracks the performance of virtual and physical machines in a virtual infrastructure. The company's patented technologies provide proactive monitoring of every layer of every tier in the infrastructure, enabling rapid diagnosis and recovery in enterprise and service provider networks.

Other features of eG VM Monitor include automatic baselining of the target infrastructure; problem demarcation and automatic root-cause diagnosis; virtual desktop monitoring and reporting; and personalised role-based views for different stakeholders.

The eG VM Monitor topped the category of Application and Infrastructure Management at the show.

The eG VM Monitor helps to ensure optimum performance of business services that run on today's increasingly complex virtual and physical infrastructures, said Mr Ramanathan. "It is easy to use, and highly cost effective, so we are delighted that industry experts have joined our growing list of customers in recognising the value of our solution."

At VMworld 2008, eG VM Monitor was selected for top honours in its category by an independent team of judges consisting of experts and editors from SearchServerVirtualization.com and its sister site, SearchVMware.com. The judges reviewed and evaluated the products according to innovation, value, performance, reliability and ease of use.

Awards were also presented in the following categories: data protection software; security and virtualisation; hardware for virtualisation; desktop virtualisation; and storage software for virtualisation; new technology; and best of show. In all, there were nearly 200 product entrants at the VMworld conference, which was held in Las Vegas.
