Posted date: 1 April 2009

Public sector leaders from across the world and the gurus of e-Government will be gathering in Singapore for iGov Global Exchange in June, presenting a unique networking and knowledge-sharing opportunity for private and public sector delegates.

eGov Global Exchange.
iGov Global Exchange is a platform for sharing best practices in building successful e-Government infrastructure and applications.

With the theme "Integrating Public Services, Engaging Citizens", the week-long event will take place from 15-19 June 2009 alongside the annual Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX), Asia's largest infocomm and media event.

A meeting of thought leaders

One of the key components of iGov Global Exchange is the iGov Forum, which will kick off with a keynote address delivered by Singapore's Senior Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong.

The list of distinguished international speakers and panellists at the Forum include:

  • Mr Ali Al Soma, Director General of Saudi e-Government Programme,
  • Mr Andre Di Maio, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner,
  • Mr Antoine Brugidou, Managing Director for Global Strategy and Growth, Public Service Operating Group Accenture,
  • Ms Bey Mui Leng, Head of REACH, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Singapore,
  • Mr Lim Hup Seng, Deputy Secretary (Performance), Ministry of Finance, Singapore,
  • Ms Moza Al Akraf, Acting Director, eServices, Dubai e-Government,

  • Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III, Chairman, Commission on Information and Communications Technology, Philippines,
  • Mr Steve Ressler, Co-Founder of Young Government Leaders, United States, and
  • Ms Virginia Cha, Research Director, Singapore e-Government Leadership Centre,

Topics that will be discussed include e-government challenges and best practices based on experiences from across the world; the trends and issues involved in interacting with the Net Generation; and the importance of government-industry collaboration in the development of e-Government solutions.

Among those who will be sharing the Singapore perspective are Head of Civil Service Mr Peter Ho, Mr Lim of the Ministry of Finance and Ms Cha of the Singapore e-Government Leadership Centre.

The Forum is expected to attract over 400 international attendees including ICT Ministers from ASEAN and the Middle East, Government Chief Information Officers, business leaders, international bodies that benchmark e-Government performances, and senior public officers from around the world.

Providing a hands-on perspective

Beyond the keynote speeches and the discussion tracks, delegates will also be able to examine for themselves best-of-breed e-Government solutions from around the world at a dedicated iGov Exhibition, which runs from 16 to 19 June. On display will be e-Government success stories and projects in targeted strategic areas of national development that have witnessed extensive investment in and deployment of infocomm technology, such as in the healthcare, education, security and urban development sectors.

Held concurrently with the imbX shows CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and InteractiveDME, the iGov Exhibition is expected to attract over 60,000 international participants from government and the industry.

Another big draw at iGov Global Exchange will be the site visits, which are being organised to give Forum delegates a first-hand look at infocomm projects that are being developed for the Singapore government, such as those in education, judiciary, transportation and homeland security.
