Small & Medium Enterprises
Singapore is building the world's first Smart Nation, using technology to enhance citizen-centric services to improve the quality of life for individuals and business productivity for enterprises. This will be reinforced with the enablement of hyper-connectivity and increased use of data.
In a Smart Nation, companies will also have new and more opportunities to be more productive, expand and grow.
SMEs will play a key role in joint development and delivery of these services to citizens and communities. SMEs can apply for schemes such as IRAS’ Productivity and Innovation Credit (“PIC”) or find out other government assistance and grant on EnterpriseOne Portal.
- Optimising the deployment of field workers (cleaners, maintenance, delivery, inspectors, etc.) through higher visibility of needs and availability of workers
- Better use of logistics vehicles through smart queue systems and information from traffic systems
- Smarter automation through the use of sensors and robots in F&B, retail, construction and transport
- New business from the Smart Environment as Singapore uses more energy management and sustainable environment technologies (such as smart lighting, emission detection, etc.)

Programmes and Initiatives
iSPRINT has been in place since March 2010 to support SMEs' use of technology to boost SMEs' productivity and growth.
As announced at the 2014 budget speech, the S$500 million ICT for Productivity and Growth (IPG) programme is a significant boost to Singapore's efforts to encourage this, with the new emphasis on solutions to transform SME sectors and on the use of high-speed connectivity for new business growth.
For more information on how SMEs and vendors can tap on this programme, please click here.
With effect from 1 Apr 2015, iSPRINT will no longer support Basic Packaged Solutions. SMEs that meet the criteria can apply for other schemes such as IRAS’ Productivity and Innovation Credit (“PIC”).

Piloting of New or Emerging Solution
ICT vendors and SMEs are encouraged to take the lead in piloting new or emerging solutions that can help to transform the SME sectors. There are many such successful transformations in the larger corporations or in SMEs' sectors in other countries.
"Emerging Solutions" are technology solutions that have the potential to transform businesses in the form of capacity for new revenue streams (domestic or overseas), new business models or new processes (automation, mechanisation or collaboration within the sector or across sectors).
These can include, for example, innovations in sensors, data analytics and robotics.
